I'm Here, And I Want Answers

Thanks to Gideon (and no thanks to the stupid "new" blogger), I have finally figured out how to post here.

I need answers, and I need them now.

What kind of league are we going to have? And what kind of draft are we going to have?

I don't think I can start the league (that's right, even start the league!) until I know these things.

I, personally, feel like I'm flexible on the categories but I have too much of a "life" (as lame as it is) for a live draft.

So, I've said it before and I'll say it again, unless someone feels REEEEALLLLY strongly about a live draft (and I guess you do, Gideon? Anyone else?), I'd rather stick with autodraft.

Ok, vote below. One vote per team manager, please.

Now, you can also vote for or against having a keeper league.

Let's say that I'll keep these polls open until Friday and then make a decision based on your votes. Fair? Fair.

I'm not invested in a live-draft. It's just a different experience. It is slightly more involved, though and would take about an hour or two (depending on the number of teams)...so I'm perfectly fine with doing autodraft.

I think a poll would be just fine re: the categories, but ultimately it's up to you.

What about keepers?

Aaaah! Can we decide keepers after I see who I get on my team? No?

Um, ok, I'll make a 2nd poll!!!

Haha. Keepers are "fun" only when next season rolls around. This way, you can get to keep your top players and the rest get thrown back in the pool. It's like building a real team!

PS: I've never actually played in a league with keepers, but I keep hearing only good things.

Uh. I made a mistake. I meant to vote for live draft instead of auto. Stupid blogger's got me all confused.

Ha! Well, I blocked multiple votes from the same computer/IP. So, you'll have to vote from work, or go to the library or something if you want to re-vote.

Not that it's going to matter, but if it does, you can always just move one vote from the auto column to the live column when looking at the final results.

I wouldn't want to be accused of ballot stuffing ;)

I voted on the live vs. auto draft, but what is a keeper league?

A keeper league is a league where the managers return from year to year (or not and that team is given to someone else) and "Keep" some of their players. We predetermine a number of keepers - say each team can "keep" 5 players.

So you play your year normally. At the end of the year, your final roster will be noted. Before next year starts, you choose which 5 of those players from your team you want to keep. Those are your "keepers". The rest of the 20 players from your team re-enter the draft pool and we have a draft like always. The 5 players "kept" by each team are not part of the draft.

So it's like being a real GM of a team - deciding which players to hang on to, which to let go not only WITHIN a season, but from season to season.

Sweet. I dig it.

Alright, I voted. I'm a little concerned about the lack of a paper record BUT...
